Description

Step back in time and experience the sights, smells and sounds that are a part of Amesbury’s boatbuilding history through a tour at Lowell’s Boat Shop. Established in 1793, Lowell’s was one of The New Nation’s many boat shops, and is the oldest continuously operating boat shop in the country. Simeon Lowell founded his own business after working as a shipwright in the area; he and other Lowell family shipwrights participated in the build of The Alliance, one of the first frigates built for the Revolutionary Navy.
