Description

A walk in the woods, off trail, to see a beaver dam and their beaver created ecosystem…and you never know, maybe a beaver too!

As beaver populations recover, beaver ponds seem to popping up everywhere. Beaver ponds create new habitat, change the hydrology and water quality, alter the carbon balance, and can threaten infrastructure. We will visit a beaver pond that has been intensively studied for the last 10 years to discuss the many interesting changes that occur when a beaver pond appears, and how it changes over seasons and years.
