This program is tide dependent, so it is important to arrive on time or you will not be able to participate. Gear will begin being distributed promptly at 1:00 pm, and boats will begin launching by 1:15 pm. Parking may be limited at the refuge or you may need to wait in line up to 20 minutes to enter. Please plan accordingly so you do not literally miss the boat. You do not need to pay the entrance fee for the refuge if you participate in the program.

All attendees must be at least 13 or older and be able to use a single kayak. We will provide all the kayaks, life jackets, and paddles.
Description
Explore the Great Salt Marsh the best way possible – by boat! We will launch in waves for this guided paddle, following the refuge water trail markers. The entire trip takes approximately 2.5 hours, and will be accompanied by experienced paddling guides from Plum Island Kayak and Refuge staff. Along the way, Refuge staff and guides will share information about the local ecology, wildlife, history, and ongoing restoration of the salt marsh.
Special Instructions
No experience necessary, all gear provided! Life jackets will be provided and are required to be worn by participants at all times, regardless of age. We recommend sunscreen, water, sunglasses, and a light layer in case it’s breezy on the water. Wear shoes you’re ok getting wet!
Weather Restrictions
This program will be cancelled or rescheduled for high wind or rain. Participants will be notified 24 hours in advance of any changes.
