Massachusetts Archaeology Society (MAS) Lecture Series welcomes David Gutbrod of Commonwealth Heritage Group
Northeast Gene Winter Chapter of the Massachusetts Archaeology Society presents monthly topics.
This talk will explore the recent remote sensing projects conducted from Iowa, Florida, and Massachusetts, showcasing a diverse range of discoveries, from Colonial Headstones from 1777 found in Worcester’s Hope Cemetery, to the rediscovery of a lost African American cemetery in Tampa Bay, to finding submerged Native American cultural artifacts in Ponkapoag Pond in Canton, MA.
These projects, undertaken by Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc., have employed cutting-edge technologies such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and high-frequency sonar investigations to unveil cultural landmarks that were previously obscured or forgotten. These findings underscore the invaluable role of technological advancements in preserving and understanding our past.
MAS Lecture Series every 3rd Tuesday, 7pm. Zoom link is available, please email us.
