Description
A tour and discussion of the history of this Civil War-era chapel, located in the churchyard of St. Paul’s Church in Newburyport. The chapel interior is almost unchanged since its consecration in April 1863. St. Anna’s Chapel’s fourteen stained glass windows are some of the earliest examples of stained glass in New England and America. The chapel was built in 1862 in memory of Anna Marie Horton, the only child of the Rev. William Horton, the rector of St. Paul’s Church prior to the Civil War.
