Description
Come explore one of the lesser-known gems of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Located on the inland side of Plum Island Sound, Nelson Island offers sweeping views of the sound and island, and an opportunity to spot secretive wildlife and unique coastal vegetation. Join a refuge ranger on an out-and-back hike to learn more about what makes this place so special.
Special Instructions
The ~2 mile trail out to Nelson Island is by foot only and tide dependent. We recommend knee high rubber boots or shoes and pants you don’t mind getting damp! This is a rain or shine event – check the weather in advance and plan for sun, wind, rain, ticks, mosquitos, and staying hydrated.
