The Woman’s Friend Society has been empowering Salem women since 1876. Guests are invited to learn the history of the Woman’s Friend Society, tour the Emmerton House, and enjoy its beautiful garden. Completed in 1812, the Emmerton house is a federal-period double house attributed to architect Samuel Field McIntire. In 2008, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places and is still providing affordable housing to women in the city to this day. A true hidden gem to discover!
