Description
Essex County is home to many hiking trails that traverse wetlands. How do these trails survive such wet conditions? Who keeps them “alive” for us to hike on? Have you ever wondered about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into sustainable trail construction and maintenance? Join us for a ~2.5 mile loop, guided hike of the Bay Circuit Trail and it’s link trails at the Old Town Hill property in Newbury where you’ll learn to see your local trails in a new light.
Special Instructions
The hike will traverse muddy, wet areas. Please wear waterproof footwear, be prepared for bugs, uneven terrain, and about 1/4 mile of walking on a road with no sidewalks. Please bring water and snacks. If you plan to check out more of the Old Town Hill property after our hike, we suggest a picnic at the top of Old Town Hill and a pair of binoculars for those interested in bird spotting!
