Description
Pre-recorded lecture: With the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, women celebrated finally being granted the right to vote. Most, however, were unaware of the shoulders on which they stood. Not always a popular position, universal suffrage regardless of race was not a priority among many of the proponents.
Throughout the Suffrage Movement, even in its infancy, African-American women and men, including Salem siblings Sarah and Charles Remond, were leaders in the movement to grant voting rights to ALL women.
