Things to know before you go!
MAKE PLANS – Use a printed guide (check out down below for more info on getting one) or the online catalog of events to find activities that interest you. Events are searchable by categories, dates, and towns so you can discover activities you love and places you’ve never been. You can filter the events by Type – Canceled to see if any of the events you were planning to attend have been canceled.
SCHEDULE ACTIVITIES– Some events require reservations in advance. Those events will say “Reservations Required”. If an event specifies that they require reservation, make sure you reserve your spot. Instructions on how to RSVP should be included in the event listing.
DRESS FOR THE OCCASION – Always wear appropriate clothing & footwear. Sneakers or comfortable walking shoes are recommended for almost every event and required for some. If you’re unsure, get in touch!
WATCH THE WEATHER – Some events depend on good weather. If you are uncertain if the weather will affect an event, check the online listing for special weather instructions.
WATCH THE CLOCK – While most events have a set start and set end time, some events say “Open Doors” which means you can stop in any time during the window of time they list. If an event says “Open Doors” and “Reservations Required”, you probably just need to RSVP before arriving.
CHECK LOCAL GUIDELINES – COVID-19 is still an evolving challenge. Please be mindful of local & state guidelines when participating in events as it may vary by town. Follow your event host’s lead when it comes to mask and social distance protocols.
REACH OUT – Any questions about specific events should be directed to that event host. Not sure who to talk to? Just give Essex Heritage a shout & we’ll point you in the right direction.
