Sponsoring Trails & Sails keeps the event series free to attend and supports heritage stewards in their effort to attract new audiences. By underwriting this well-established event series, you are continuing to allow visitors to explore the special sites and stories of the Essex National Heritage Area and continuing to support heritage stewards in their efforts to build awareness & capacity for years to come. Sponsorship helps us produce the printed guidebook, the website, flyers, lawn signs, and so much more. It also helps us provide support to hosts, cultivate new ideas and relationships that strengthen the heritage area, and develop programming that is fun for the whole family.

We are now offering the unique opportunity for local businesses to advertise in our popular Trails & Sails guidebook. This full-color printed guide is the primary marketing piece for the event series. A digital version of the guidebook is available for download through our website which saw 115K page views in 2025 and 24K unique users. Available space is limited.

Each year, more than 8,000 copies are distributed throughout Essex County, Massachusetts. We work with a regional network of public libraries, Visitor Centers, and Chambers of Commerce to ensure they are widely disseminated to a local audience.

Advertise with Trails & Sails
  • Ad space will be available and assigned on a first-come first-served basis until all available space has been sold.
  • Ads must be submitted to Essex Heritage no later than June 1, 2026. Extensions, if needed, will be determined on a case by case basis.
  • Trails & Sails 2026 will run from September 12th-27th, and guidebooks will be distributed starting August 1st.
  • Advertisers will also be recognized on a slide at the Essex Heritage Annual Meeting so we ask that logos be provided as applicable.
